Scrapforge - survive the scrapyard, forge impossible weapons.
Survive the scrapyard. Collect scrap and forge better weapons.
Scrapforge is a survivor-like set in a scrapyard, and its one real idea is that upgrading costs you something you are currently using. Weapons are built out of components, components are what keep you alive, and merging two of them into something better consumes both — so the moment you evolve a weapon is the moment you hand over the thing that was saving you.
That makes the interesting decision a visible one rather than a menu. Handing over the injector that has been patching you up in exchange for a weapon that might end the run faster is a bet you make with your eyes open, in the middle of a fight, and it is the reason a run here does not feel like the genre it belongs to.
Everything else is familiar on purpose: enemies arrive in waves, you move and the shooting looks after itself, and the run ends when you do. What varies between runs is which components the yard gives you and therefore which weapons were ever possible, so the plan is made from what turned up rather than chosen at the start.
It is the largest game on this site and the one built on an engine rather than by hand. It is also the only one marked as featured, which is a judgement about which of ours to show a stranger first.
Scrapforge is ours — code and art, with nothing borrowed and nothing to clear with anybody else. It can be licensed for your portal.
