Build a town on a bare rock island and trade across the Inner Sea. Place quarries, farms and warehouses, send ships out for what the island cannot grow, and keep everyone fed through the seasons.
Drag to move the map, pinch to zoom. Pick a building, then drag it where it goes and lift. Keep the island fed through the seasons.
Salt & Stone is a management game about an island that grows almost nothing. You have a town on bare rock in an invented sea, and everything the town needs that the rock will not produce has to come across the water — so the game is really about the ships, and the buildings are how you afford them.
You place quarries, farms, warehouses and docks, watch the villagers walk between them, and send ships to the cities on the chart for what is missing. Nothing attacks you. There is no army and no enemy; you lose by mismanaging a winter, which arrives on a calendar you can see and prepare for, and which will still catch you the first two times.
The whole world is drawn procedurally — the coastline, the terrain, the villagers, the ships and the portolan chart are all generated rather than made of images, which is why a game this large is under 400 KB and loads without a progress bar. The town's name is yours to set, and it is saved with the game.
It is the slowest thing on this site and the one that rewards a long sitting. If you want the same instinct in three minutes, Reefhold is the short version.
Salt & Stone is ours — code and art, with nothing borrowed and nothing to clear with anybody else. It can be licensed for your portal.
