Place huts, fields and docks on a small island. Every building scores from what is next to it. Three minutes a run.
Place a building on the island. Each one scores from its neighbours.
Reefhold is a three-minute placement puzzle. You are given buildings one at a time — huts, fields, docks — and you put them somewhere on a small island. Every building scores from what ends up next to it, so a hut wants neighbours and a dock wants water, and the score you finish with is the sum of every decision about adjacency you made along the way.
There is no undo and no map to scout. You see the piece in your hand and the next one coming, which is exactly enough to plan one move ahead and never enough to plan three, and the island is small enough that by the halfway point every remaining space is a compromise.
The island is generated, so no two runs give you the same coastline, and the coastline is most of the puzzle — where the water reaches decides which half of your buildings are worth anything. A run takes three minutes and asking for one more is the intended reaction.
It is the smallest game on this site: one HTML file, 63 KB, everything drawn procedurally. It loads before you have finished reading this sentence.
